Medieval market At the turn of June-July we are moved to the Middle Ages in Turku. The Old Great Square is turned into a handicraft’s market, an outdoors play is performed by over one hundred participants and also other programs in the medieval spirit are offered during the four market days.

The city of Turku resounds with music during the Music festivals in August. The events of this versatile Music Festival take place for instance by the river Aurajoki, the Sibelius museum, the Cathedral, the Sigyn Hall, the schooner Suomen Joutsen/Swan of Finland and the Turku Castle are also hosting several concerts. Over 30 concerts and other events of the Music Festival offer experiences in various different musical styles. The programme includes old and new music, classical music, opera and jazz and concerts for children.

Night of the ancient fires, the last weekend in August
The end of the summer season in the archipelago. Tourists, summer guests, relatives and friends get together with the islanders to have a happy evening around the ancient fires. In a symbolic way the fires are reminding of the ancient chain of signal fires running through the archipelago. The fires are lit at 9.30 p.m.


Naantali Music Festival, in the beginning of June
The festival summer of Finland begins with Naantali Music Festival. Splendid concert programme in the sunshine town by the sea. The medieval cloister church acts as the main concert hall. The programme includes also guided concert tours to the idyllic archipelago churches of the region, nocturnal concerts and a coffee concert in Naantali Spa Hotel.


Crusell Week in Uusikaupunki in the end of July.
The Crusell week is an internationally known chamber music festival dedicated to music played by woodwind instruments. Even high quality music teaching with master courses is included in the programme. Crusell Week is a well-known event among the Finnish summer festivals.
